The Molecheck Pathway Sevens and Auckland Cup delivered an electrifying weekend of bowls, with Auckland clubs battling for top supremacy. From nail-biting finishes to standout performances, the competition was fierce and defined the calibre of tournament play, rising to well-earned victories for the region’s top teams.

Molecheck Pathway Sevens Finals
– Men’s Competition
Auckland BC proved their class once again, successfully defending their title after an impressive section play performance. Entering Sunday as hot favourites, they faced a Mount Albert side in a repeat of last year’s final. Despite a strong challenge, Auckland BC secured a 3-0 victory in tightly contested matches.

– Women’s Competition
Howick’s women’s team delivered an inspired performance to claim the title. Their Singles player Hannah Dawson defeated former Blackjack Wendy Jensen (Auckland BC) in a gripping 21-20 battle. Current national pairs champions Olivia Buckingham and Lisa Prideaux (Auckland BC) led their Pairs match comfortably. But Howick’s unsuspecting fours team—riding the momentum of Hannah’s win—stepped up, defeating a very well-accomplished Auckland BC lineup, securing Howick’s place in the national final.

Auckland Cup Finals
Howick once again stood tall, as they also lifted the Auckland Cup, securing the title and the newly increased prize pool with a stellar display of teamwork and skill. Blockhouse Bay fought hard but had to settle for runner-up. Howick’s Bryan Chapman, highlighted the club’s bright future, celebrating the blend of experienced and emerging players in Howick’s squad.
