On Wednesday evening Auckland’s reps from its three squads gathered to celebrate the players selected for upcoming fixtures in March. Against the backdrop of team spirit, the evening not only recognised achievements but also fostered a sense of unity among the city’s top bowlers.
Young Kiwi swimming sensation, Lewis Clareburt, with accolades including the 2024 400m Individual Medley World Championship and double gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, shared his invaluable insights into the life of a top-tier athlete. His dedication and preparation for competitive swimming and his preparation for the 2024 Olympics were inspiration and motivation for the aspiring bowlers in attendance.
Beyond congratulations, the gathering highlighted the impact lawn bowls has on players’ lives, with a few reps reflecting on their personal journey of the game and the significance of being a representative for their region.
With fixtures on the horizon, including the 1-5 Quad 2 Series, Development Octagonal Challenge, and the prestigious National Intercentre, with the support of their teammates and Auckland’s bowls community behind them, the players embark on their respective journeys, ready to leave their mark on the greens.
