What a Sunday it was at the 2024 Auckland Centre Twilight Bowls Finals! With 18 social bowls teams entered, revved up and ready to bowl, it was bound to be an awesome day.
This champ of champs style event for social bowls leagues brought together the cream of the crop from clubs across Auckland, coming together with a newfound love for the game and eagerness for a day of fun and competition.
Host club Pt Chevalier was buzzing with activity – tasty food, awesome sounds, and plenty of jovial banter and vibes for the whole family.
And, the green was in great condition. Some of the finalists, used to playing on artificial, were thrown a wee curveball with a faster natural green to contend with. But they rose to the occasion like pros!
Pt Chevalier Bowling Club has recently undergone noticeable improvements. A refreshed restaurant now offers a revamped menu crafted by a new chef, Rafa. The recent appointment of a new club manager, Hayden Peters, has also injected fresh energy and ideas – paired with a proactive board who are future-focused on ensuring the Pt Chevalier Pirates continue to innovate and remain the heart of their community.
All the changes have been perfect timing for the Twilight Bowls Finals, in more ways than one.
Pt Chevalier teams brought their A-game, stirring up some mate vs mate rivalry and clinching double victory – the championship title and the silver medal. But how about this as a fun fact! Dad, Carl and daughter, Nicole were part of the champion Chur Bowls team who swooped, edging out Ebowlas to secure back-to-back victories,
A round of handshakes and huge congrats to:
- Gold: Chur Bowls, Pt Chevalier – Nicole Taylor, Carl Taylor & Kiri Walters
- Silver: Ebowlas, Pt Chevalier – Mathew Fletcher, Ben McCafferty, Jonnhy Bilkey
We give a big shoutout to everyone who battled it out on the greens! Your fun and sportsmanship made it a day to remember. Until next time, keep the laughs rolling and those bowls on target!
