We are thrilled to welcome Les Eagleton on-board in a newly created role, Coach Developer. Les has vast experience both as a bowler, coach and coach developer.

She is currently a member at Howick and will be known to most within our community, formally representing Papakura. Les is the current coaching convenor for the eastern hub, highly qualified as a coach, completing all qualifications including Performance and as a Coach Developer with various certificates from AKTIVE and Sport New Zealand. 

Recently, Les has supported Graeme Rees from Bowls New Zealand to deliver coaching courses, ensuring she can hit the ground running in her new role.  Les’ main role will be to assist in the delivery of the recently established Coaching Strategy with a key focus on;

• Delivering coaching courses. 
• Delivering bi-monthly coaching workshops for qualified coaches. 
• Supporting clubs to have at least one qualified coach. 
• Supporting clubs to deliver coaching programmes to their members, with a focus on Years 0 to 5. 
• Supporting qualified coaches in a mentor role. 

Bowls Auckland CEO Dean Bartlett commented, ‘It is tremendously exciting to have Les join the team, as we understand how important development is especially for our newer players, and to have someone of Les’ experience and passion is going to be highly valuable.’

Clubs, watch out for correspondence from Les in the coming weeks as she gets her feet under the desk and starts to plan the coming 12 months.
