Bowls Auckland’s Rangatahi Roll Up programme is off to a fantastic start for Term 4, already welcoming students from Selwyn College and Mt Roskill Grammar. With many more schools set to participate, our goal is to introduce over 5,000 students to the enjoyment of bowls this summer.
Building on the success of Term 1, the Rangatahi Roll Up continues to grow in popularity. Schools that participated previously have eagerly rejoined, while new schools are jumping on board, recognising the value of giving their students a fresh and unique sporting experience. The Bowls Auckland team is thrilled to see both familiar and new faces taking part.
The sessions are designed to be flexible and accessible. Depending on the school’s preference, activities can be held either on school grounds or at a local bowling club. Students are introduced to the basics of bowls through fun, engaging activities, followed by modified games that let them experience the thrill of competition in a relaxed, supportive environment.
One of the standout events this term is the Junior Secondary Schools Pairs Day on Tuesday, 12 November at Mt Eden Bowling Club. Organised in collaboration with College Sport Auckland, this event gives junior students a great chance to play bowls, especially as seniors focus on exams. No prior experience is needed, making it a perfect way for students to try their hand at a new sport.
Students interested in participating in the Junior Secondary Schools Pairs Day should contact their school’s sports coordinator to secure their spot.
With so many opportunities ahead, Term 4 is shaping up to be an exciting and fun time for students across Auckland to enjoy bowls and create lasting memories on the green.
