Be part of the Pacifica Barbarians!
20 November 2024

We’re thrilled to announce the formation of the Pacifica Barbarians, a bowls team proudly representing the vibrant Pacifica community in Tāmaki Makaurau.

The Pacifica Barbarians have been created to fill a vacant spot in the upcoming Octagonal Premier Competition, taking place on 15–16 February 2025. Competing in Singles, Pairs, and Fours, this team offers a fantastic opportunity for bowlers of Pacifica or Māori heritage—or those deeply connected to the Pacifica community—to unite and promote their culture and values on the green.

We’re looking for seven men and seven women bowlers who:

  • Have Pacifica or Māori heritage or a strong connection to the Pacifica community.
  • Are passionate about promoting Pacifica culture through bowls.
  • Are not currently involved in their centre’s Premier or Development representative programme.

The team will be guided by experienced selector and coach Peter Thorne, known for his commitment to Pacifica bowls and his leadership of the Tongan national team. Dan King, Tongan Team Manager, will bring additional expertise and support.
