Events scheduled to be played on 26th-27th September 2020

With the continuing uncertainty and changes to alert levels, Auckland Bowls and Bowls North Harbour have made the very difficult decision to cancel the Women’s Premier Open Singles and the Ivan Kostanich Men’s Open Singles. This decision was not made lightly.

Indications from Government are that, at best, the Alert Level for Auckland would be 2 with an easing of restrictions for gatherings later that week, but that alone was not of sufficient comfort that we could proceed with the events at this time. The events will not be re-scheduled.

There were several factors considered by the Centres in arriving at this decision, these included

• the fact that the event was an open event attracting competition from all around the Auckland area and some from further afield.
• the number of persons who would be involved in the games (players and markers) and in and around the clubhouse.
• the recommendation from Bowls NZ

Entry fees for the event will be refunded. Both centres will be contacting all entrants to make arrangements for this.
