Royal Oak Bowls was the hub of activity on Sunday, 22 September, as the post-section of the Molecheck Women’s Open Singles ran alongside the inaugural High Tea event.
The High Tea, a key part of Bowls Auckland’s wider strategy to enrich both on and off-green experiences, was a fabulous opportunity to come together, connect and celebrate bowls and bowlers, especially wāhine which is what it is all about!
Close to 70 attendees indulged in a delightful afternoon, greeted with complimentary bubbles (courtesy of Villa Maria) and mini cupcakes (thanks to Noughts and Crosses) as they entered. Spot prizes, generously provided by Molecheck and Taylor Bowls, added to the fun while guests enjoyed a selection of savoury & sweet treats – fit for any royal occasion!
The highlight of the High Tea came when Olympic canoeist and double gold medallist Alicia Hoskin took the stage. Alicia captivated the crowd with stories from her upbringing, and the team’s inspiring victories over global kayak giants Poland and Hungary, and provided a behind-the-scenes glimpse into partnering with legendary Olympian Lisa Carrington.
As the tea and treats came to an end, the energy shifted back to the green, where the Final of the Women’s Open Singles was just heating up. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon – sharing laughs, catching up with friends, and enjoying some top-quality bowls.
A huge thank you Royal Oak Bowls, Molecheck, Taylor Bowls, Villa Maria, Noughts and Crosses, and everyone who attended and of course to Alicia for sharing her inspiring stories!
