Bowls Auckland is excited to introduce a fresh and dynamic event tailored for the growing wave of young bowls talent: the National Under 26 Pairs! This new tournament, set to take place in Tāmaki Makaurau over the weekend of 29-30 March 2025, creates an ideal pathway for young bowlers to showcase their skills on the greens.

Youth engagement in bowls is flourishing, and we believe this addition to the calendar will further boost rangatahi (youth) participation. Last season, we celebrated a significant milestone with 75 teams competing in the Auckland Secondary School Pairs—an impressive 39% increase from previous years. With more Under 26 players joining our ranks each season, the timing couldn’t be better to introduce an event dedicated to them.

Bowls Auckland CEO Dean Bartlett shared his enthusiasm: “There’s an awesome group of younger players in our environment. We want to keep adding to their playing opportunities, just as other centres have with tournaments like Burnside and Kittyhawk. It’s all about creating a pathway for those eager to continue bowls beyond school competition.”

The U26 Pairs is an ‘Open’ tournament, inviting players from across Aotearoa and even overseas, ensuring a vibrant weekend of competition and camaraderie for bowlers of all levels!
