Sunday vibes & bowls brilliance at Twilight Final
9 April 2025

The 2025 Auckland Twilight Bowls Final—and what a fun day Sunday it turned out to be at Mt Albert Bowling Club!

The Twilight Final delivered everything we love about Twilight: short, fast-paced games, a healthy dose of friendly rivalry, plenty of laughs, garden bar grooves, a sizzling BBQ, and a buzzing crowd. This event wasn’t just about bowls—it was about bringing communities together, and that energy was felt throughout the day.

From locals and first-timers to seasoned Twilight champs, 19 teams from 16 clubs across Auckland turned up ready to bowl. Many players had only picked up a bowl for the first time during their club’s series, making the level of play all the more impressive.

Mt Albert BC’s very own Rowbowl Cops took home the championship title in a close final, with fellow club mates F Putin placing second. The spirited ZE Bowlers from Pt Chevalier rounded out the top three. For the second year running, it seems home turf advantage may have been the winning edge!

The on-green activity was run by Tournament Convenor Les Smith, who kept things ticking while cheering on some surprisingly sharp performances. “It was great to see how eager everyone was. Some of those playoff games could’ve challenged seasoned bowlers!” he said.

Also on hand were Mt Albert President Nathan Haturini and greenkeeper Rambo aka Steve Ramsay—both now passionate full members who first got involved through social bowls themselves. It’s that kind of spark that makes bowls and this event special!
