In a showdown at Mangawhai Bowling Club, women’s representative teams from Auckland, Counties Manukau, Far North, and Northland clashed in a competitive quadrangular fixture on Sunday, 21 January.
The teams engaged in great battles across Singles, Pairs, and Fours, each vying for top scores and eager to showcase the strength of their combinations.
Establishing their rhythm early on, our Auckland teams comfortably secured the victories to claim the top spot overall. Northland exhibited commendable skill to secure second position, while Far North valiantly claimed third spot, leaving Counties Manukau in fourth place.
Reflecting on the competition, Head Selector Alison Rennie expressed the importance of such an event saying, “Sunday’s fixture was invaluable for everyone. It provided a platform for each centre to review their team dynamics and identify areas for improvement. For us, it is a great opportunity before finalising our lineups for the upcoming Intercentre and Octagonal competitions in March.”
A special acknowledgement and thanks to Bowls Northland for their warm hospitality. The event ran seamlessly, and the host ensured the well-being of all participants. We also extend our thanks to the other Centres, your participation provides opportunities for bowlers to expand their skills – and we look forward to seeing you soon at future competitions.
